Sárga csillag - Yellow star
A magyar kormányzat rendelete értelmében 1944.
Following the decree of the Hungarian Government from 1944, every single „Jewish person” above 6 years old must have worn a yellow strar when leaving the house. The star must have been canary coloured with 6 arms at least 10x10cms big, and taken to the left side on the upper clothing. Sawing the star was the first step in the direction of the gettho and also the anteroom of death. Suddenly there was a huge and clearly visible chasm between the Christians and the Jewish minority. Not Jewish people, who showed up with Jews, or just had a short discussion in front of public could easily recieve some rude sentences, but sometimes insults went further and could end up in excommunication or prosecution at the police yard. So majority of the people tried not to notice them on the street, or used the occasion to mock, humiliate or frighten them. Others wanted to show their scorn and opinion about the government, so as a protest, they were walking with their Jewish friends hand in hand.
