Memorbuch
1945 január 18–án, amikor a Vörös Hadsereg felszabadította a pesti gettó területét, temetetlen halottak ezreit találták az utcákon. Mivel a város szélén található temetők a háborús körülmények között megközelítehetetlenek voltak, sokukat a város parkjaiban, zöldterületein temettek el. 2281 lelőtt, éhenhalt és megfagyott zsidó tetemét a Dohány utcai zsinagóga és a Hősök zsinagógája közötti területen temettek el. A temetéseket síronként jegyzőkönyvezték. A 24 tömegsírban nyugvók közül 1170–et nem sikerült azonosítani.
A kertben eltemetettek neveit itt kereshetőek.
On 18 January 1945, when the USSR and the Red Army liberated the Ghetto of Budapest, they found thousands of unburied corpses all over the streets. Due to the war circumstances, the soldiers didn’t have access to the suburb’s cemeteries, so many of the dead persons were buried in the parks of the city. 2281 Jews, who were shot, frozen, or died due to starvation, were interred between the Dohány Synagogue and the Heros’ Synagogue in the courtyard, and registered them according to graves. 1170 persons from the 24 mass graves were not able to be identified.
The names of the people buried in the garden are here.
